Stunning mineral stone pendant with wonderful colors in a unique brass frame.
The designer and artist who created this Arts & Crafts work of lighting art must have been inspired by the wonderful colors that mother nature has to offer in the late afternoons and evenings in the summer. Especially the copper red light that the sun creates when disappearing under the horizon seems the source of inspiration for this artist. With the colors in this particular alabaster shade AND in the brass 'frame' corresponding with the marvelous colors at sundown this one of a kind pendant really is a joy to own and to look at. In our experience it is also at that time of day that swallows are the most active. Just like the embossed swallows in this shade we too have seen them circling above and around a swimming pool in the Canary Islands. By the way, the workmanship that has gone into hand-crafting this remarkable chandelier is of a level that you don't find anymore in this day and age. Never mind the amount of time it must have taken to first hand-draw and then completely hand-craft this gem. We have said it many times before and we will say it again here: both with the light switched on and off, the colors in this alabaster shade are much warmer and much more beautiful than in our photos. You can take our word for it. Because of the many colors and 'patches' one could also say that this pendant (when looking at it from different sides and angles) has many faces. That too is the beauty of surrounding yourself with truly natural materials.

We have sold a large number of antique light fixtures around the globe, but when it comes to chandeliers from the Dutch Arts & Crafts era this sizable and relatively timeless specimen is only one of very few that we have been able to find. The design is both beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, because the combination of the copper hardware and the goldenbrown silk shade is an absolute joy to look at. Because of the quality of the copper Arts and Crafts Style elements and the relatively timeless design we feel this rare antique may have been made by Winkelman en van der Bijl (of Amsterdam), but we have no way to prove that. The excellent condition, double layered silk inside this pendant's shade is an expensive replacement and it creates the most amazing warm light that we have ever seen. Thanks to its large size, its structurally super sound condition and its timeless design this carved alabaster chandelier too is bound to light up someone's days and evenings soon. It is so structurally sound that it rings like a bell for quite some time when you strike it. This also is the case, because it is thick and heavy and beautifully rounded atop. The many small black veins contrast even more when the light is switched on. However, there also are many more translucent veins and patches and together they paint a picture that truly is a joy to behold, because those translucent veins too create patterns and colors that only Mother Nature is capable of creating. Even if we shot a hundred photos, you still would not be able to see the beauty of this shade and its unique patterns. The replacement black metal chain and the equally mint and height adjustable, large alabaster canopy are like the icing on the cake of this work of lighting art. Thanks to the metal hook inside the height adjustable canopy, safely mounting this pendant tight to your ceiling and over your junction box will take no more than a few minutes. This alabaster chandelier is professionally rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the USA as well and it will take a regular screwthread bulb of up to 120 watts, easily. A brushed chrome bulb holder covers the bottom part of the flex where it connects to the shade. A single screw-in E27 bulb is required.
The textured indentations produce a very soft light. In very good vintage condition. The height can easily be adjusted by replacing the existing flex with a longer version or reducing the existing one in length. Perfect for a bedroom, bathroom or landing.
Rewired by a professional electrician and in full working order.

Gorgeous Mid-20th Century Mid Century Modern gold spun fiberglass string swag or pendant hanging light fixture or lamp. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, there are a couple places in the fiberglass that aren’t exactly perfect and there is some yellowing to the inside shade.
