Sculpted Armoire Cabinet by John Kapel for Glenn of California, 1960s, Signed
By John Kapel, Glenn of California
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This beautiful Mid-Century Modern walnut armoire cabinet was designed by John Kapel for Glenn of California. Designed and produced in the 1960s, this example is signed with a Glenn of California medallion in one drawer. This beautiful bedroom wardrobe cabinet features nicely grained walnut contrasted with black trim and plinth base, signature softly sculpted handles, which open to reveal a hinged mirror with additional hidden storage behind, several cubby spaces for storage and three pull out drawers. Glenn of California was at the forefront of a new West Coast modernist design movement from the late 1940s through the 1960s. Other notable designers who designed for Glenn of California include Greta Magnusson-Grossman, Milo Baughman, Paul Laszlo, Stanley Young, and Kipp Stewart. Consider using this classic Mid-Century Modern armoire cabinet by John Kappel...

Jim Rose - Shaker Inspired Chest of Drawers, Steel Furniture Natural Rust Patina
By Jim Rose
Located in Chicago, IL
This chest of drawers was inspired by the forms and sensibilities of Shaker furniture. Here, artist Jim Rose puts his spin on the shaker design by using naturally rusted steel. The warmth of the patina evokes a cherished family heirloom. This piece will add interest and functionality to any room. Jim Rose Chest of Drawers repurposed steel with natural rust patina 78h x 35w x 18d in 198.12h x 88.90w x 45.72d cm JR0270 Jim Rose b. 1966, d. 2023 Bio: Born in Indiana, Jim Rose lived in Europe until he returned to the United States to attend college. After one year at Bard College, Jim transferred to the School of the Art Institute in Chicago (SAIC) where he graduated in 1988 with a BFA. His skillful interpretation of the Shaker design is a result of intense research and field study of Shaker furniture, architecture, culture and history. After over two decades of dedicated work, he has mastered the minimalism of the Shaker technique and created his own unique visual vernacular. The quilts of Gee's Bend have become a monumental influence taking this artist's work to new levels of unique interpretation and artistry. His selection of aged steel results in a patina directly related to that of aged wood while his colored strips beautifully mimic worn cloth. Each piece of furniture is masterfully made and intended for daily use. Jim Rose’s steel furniture is featured every year at SOFA Chicago for the past 25 years. Rare Art Deco Streamlined Moderne Dresser by Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky
By Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky
Located in Lafayette, IN
Rare streamlined dresser by Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky for Red Lion Furniture. The count was famous for his wonderfully stylized Industrial designs and worked with major automakers of the day like Auburn, Cord, Packard, Tucker and the White Truck Co. This dresser features wonderful, asymmetrical streamlined lines, unique round drawer pulls, and Stunning Circassion Walnut Veneer. This dresser was originally designed by Sakhnoffsky for display in the "House of Tomorrow" during the 1939 New York World's fair! Some more info on Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky: Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky was born in Russia in 1901, the son of an Advisor to Tsar Nicholas II. Following the Russian revolution he escaped to the continent and began a career as an automobile designer emigrating to America in 1929. In America he designed many famous automobiles and his drawings of futuristic cars appeared in Esquire Magazine from 1934 on. In furniture he advocated streamline design as in the Bloomingdale’s Department Store furniture shown at the 1939-40 World’s Fair in New York. Outside automobiles and furniture, de Sakhnoffsky also created designs in the areas of aircraft design (Sabca), boat design (feather-Craft), Bike design (Murray), watch design (Gruen), and radio design (Emerson). This desk represents the perfect culmination of all of these influences and is one of the best examples of his 'streamline' furniture design aesthetic. Add to all of that the 1939 World's Fair connection and you have an extremely rare collector's piece that spans an almost infinite number of genres! Automotive designs by Sakhnoffsky: 1929 Cord l-29 Special Coupe 1934 Packard Twelve Model 1106 Sport Coupe & Runabout Speedster 1947 White Labatt Streamliner Delivery Truck 1938-41 American Austin Bantam Commander Gatti's 1937 International Harvester...
