By Deanna Comellini
Located in Bologna, IT
"Kama Allegro a Piacere" is a limited-edition design rug with a sumptuous and wild hand-woven weave in viscose fiber. This contemporary design is part of the capsule collection ‘Kama 2021’ created to celebrate "Kama" rug's twentieth anniversary. The designer Deanna Comellini, driven by the artistic freedom of her creative process, updated the bestseller rug's original style by playing with the reflective properties of the weave. She introduced textures that create fascinating lights effects, and vibrant, magnetic colors to the iconic collection now part of the history of design. Viscose is soft, shiny, and velvety as well as very resistant. In the color "Bianco Luce", a bright natural white, this rug creates a surface of great visual impact, taking center stage in any space. The softness of this rug makes it ideal for environments like living rooms and bedrooms, while its brightness and brilliance perfectly match marble floors. "Kama Allegro a Piacere" is a vegan rug...

Antique Rugs, French Savonnerie Carpet, Beige Floral Carpet Rug
Located in Hampshire, GB
During the early seventeenth century, a weaver named Pierre DuPont travelled to the Levant. Upon his return, he claimed to have discovered the technique of creating Turkish rugs. Oriental rugs were extremely expensive during Bourbon times, and a French manufactory that could create the same type of rug would lower the price significantly. Henri VI of France–the reigning monarch at the time–took advantage of DuPont’s skills and established a workshop for him at the Louvre. In 1627, King Louis XIII founded a manufactory for DuPont and his apprentice, Simon Lourdes, on the site of a defunct soap factory in the sixteenth arrondissement (also known as Quai de Chaillot). The name “Savonnerie” was born from the French word “Savon” meaning “soap.” DuPont and Lourdes worked together, weaving rugs under a royal patent for the king and other nobles until they had a falling out and split up. Lourdes remained at the Chaillot location while DuPont went to his workshops in the Louvre, though both continued to make Savonnerie rugs. Antique rugs, French Savonnerie carpet, Beige Floral carpet...

Contemporary Warm Whitre Soft Shiny Silky Rug by Deanna Comellini 300x400 cm
By Deanna Comellini
Located in Bologna, IT
“KamaSu”, in the color “Bianco Luce”, is a bright and ultra-soft contemporary rug by designer Deanna Comellini, founder and creative director of G.T.DESIGN. This model features a hand-stitching that brings together two “KamaSu” rugs creating a large, pleasant island upon which to lie and let the hand roam. "KamaSu", part of the groundbreaking collection “Kama”, was introduced in 2001 revolutionizing the contemporary rug industry and becoming part of the history of design. The first rug to use a sumptuous and wild hand-woven viscose fiber, "KamaSu" captures the light and let it fluctuate on its weave. A design of Deanna Comellini, the contemporary rug features the highest quality of the reflective fiber to create a thick yarn with a unique brilliance, softness and color depth. The dope dyed yarn is hand weaved on traditional looms and cut in irregular technique, making the luxurious rug so seductive that it is named after the Indian God of Love. Bringing a sensorial feel to interior design, "KamaSu" takes center stage in any space, shifting the perception of rug design from accessory to essential element in interior design. In the color "Bianco Luce", a bright warm white, "KamaSu" creates a surface of great visual impact, precious and magnetic. It is ideal both in night and living areas. "KamaSu" is a vegan rug...

Enclosed by a narrow monochromatic border. Wool with silk inlay. Measures: 10’1” H x 13’9” W This tapestry was probably woven after a design by the French painter Claude-Joseph Vernet (1714-1789), renowned for his Marines, or maybe by his student Charles Grenier de Lacroix also known as Lacroix de Marseille...

20th Century, Brown and Floreal Motifs Savonerie French Rug, ca 1920
Located in Firenze, IT
The term Savonerie identifies a series of carpets knotted with Turkish knot and adorned with floral designs, made in Europe in various manufactories. The most famous and the one that gives the name to these carpets was settled in Paris in an ancient soap factory. Its foundation was an attempt by France in the seventeenth century to reproduce the expensive oriental carpets, but the main feature of these carpets is the Western style decor, which introduced an absolute novelty in the furnishings of the time. The productions of Savonerie over the years have become multiple, the most popular in addition to the French are the Spanish and Austrian. They were manufactories created specifically to produce large carpets intended for sumptuous noble palaces. Since the end of the 19th century many manufactories have also begun to produce carpets of different sizes, always with a decoration dictated by a Western style furniture...
