Located in OVIEDO, AS
Antique Natural Lapis Lazuli & Pearl and Seed Pearl and Gold Pendant Bow Earrings. Early 19th Century. Each earring is separated into three sections, each designed to move separately, so that the long drop deep blue purple lapis lazuli and all the pearls will twinkle and glisten as they catch the light. Antique Georgian Regional Garnet and Topaz Cluster Flower Ring c.1800
Located in London, GB
This lovely antique cluster ring dates to around 1800 and was made in either Southern Germany or Italy. In the middle of the ring head lies a red garnet, surrounded by a cluster of 8 rose cut white topaz stones in rubover silver settings. The flower head cluster design is typical of late 18th to early 19th century regional European jewellery. As expected with this type of ring, the central raised gold setting of the garnet is fixed to the ring with a cut-down rivet which is visible on the smooth and domed underside of the bezel. The trifurcated shoulders lead to a reeded shank which is stamped with two old hallmarks. This elegant and rosy hued gold ring sits fairly flat on the finger to allow for frequent wear and is without doubt a particularly rare surviving example of its kind. UK ring size V...

Antique Early 19th Century Cut-Steel Necklace
Located in Malmö, SE
Cut steel jewelry was at the height of fashion from the mid 1700s well into the 19th century. Originated in the 1700s. Popular from the Georgian through the Victorian eras. To make cut steel, melted horseshoe nails were formed into tiny faceted beads. Those small steel gemstone-like studs were then riveted one-by-one onto a base plate. It was an English invention that quickly travelled throughout the world. Each stud could have up to 15 facets, and in general the finer and older the piece the more facets the studs will have. Improvements in candles meant that grand events and entertaining could take place at night. As diamonds are diamonds and not available for everyone, and everyone wanted to shine, the popularity grew. Cut-steel provided a stylish and popular new jewelry material that could be enjoyed by everyone at all levels of society. It grew beyond a simple imitation to an art in its own right. The manufacturing was complex and the workmanship that was required highly skilled. These were not mass produced objects. The studs were made from decarbonated cast steel, which was case-hardened, then the studs were faceted by cutting against a pewter wheel. Next were then polished with first fine emery and a hard brush, and then by hand with a special putty. Finally they were riveted onto pierced base plates which had to be drilled and cut by hand, too. The main place of cut steel production was Birmingham, England. And there, one manufacturer stood out from all the rest: Matthew Boulton. He had been born in 1728 into the industry — his father manufactured small metal products. But the younger Boulton had a special talent for marrying the latest technology with the latest fashion. He also was continually expanding — he even founded a mint. He wined and dined with dignitaries and advocated for his steel products. Fortuitously, he became quite close with the Russian ambassador to Catherine the Great. When the ambassador toured the mint, Boulton made sure to send the Empress some of his cut-steel necklaces. In 1759, Louis XV “encouraged” the nobility to donate their gold and gemstone jewelry to help fund the Seven Years War. The popularity of cut steel in France may in part have been due to these sumptuary laws which limited who could wear precious metals and diamonds. Either you complied with the law and gave up your family jewels to be melted down for the war chest...

Old XIXth BROOCH, Enamels, Silver, Vermeil, Antik BROOCH, Burgundy France
Located in SAINT-CLOUD, FR
OLD BROOCH early 19th century, antique brooch, in Georgian French enamel and vermeil silver. Brooch is decorated with an enamel motif typical of the town of Bourg-en-Bresse, in the region of Burgundy, France. French jewel from the Restoration period in France, Georgian period, between 1819 and 1838. dimensions: width 5 cm, height 4.5 cm, weight 14 g, good condition for its age, but I think the clasp needle is not original (hence the price, which is always negotiable). Bressan enamels are traditional jewels exclusively made in Bourg-en-Bresse in the department of Ain, they are made of enamel, fine particles of gold, all set on a mount. The Bressan tradition dates the origin of this technique back to the 14th century from 1397 when an enameller from the city, Master Guillaume, was entrusted with the sword of Amédée VIII of Savoy to decorate the pommel and the scabbard. This regional jewel, intimately linked to the traditional Bressan costume, reached its peak in the years 1800 to 1900, both in their creation and in their distribution. In the middle of the 19th century, the Bressan goldsmiths Amédée Bonnet and Amédée Fornet gave new impetus to these regional creations. In their workshops in Bourg-en-Bresse, they initiated a new genre, incorporating enamel plates, gold sequins, enamel beads and filigree arabesques into colored backgrounds. Antique Repoussé Garnet and 18K Gold Earrings
Located in Rotterdam, NL
Elegant 18 karat gold repoussé scrolling and articulated earrings from early 19th Century. The design reminds me of the lyre harp and set with beautiful faceted garnets. Which have different cut styles - oval, round and teardrop cuts and the gold around the garnets has a mille griffe design. The earrings showcase 18 garnets bezel set in this lovely mille griffe design. These types of earrings were typical of the romantic era of the Georgians and Victorians. During the Grand Tour in 18th century, the lyre is a popular symbol in antique jewelry and refers to music and 'heavenly' love. It was seen as an attribute of Apollo, the god of music, poetry and dance of the Ancient Greeks. The earrings are for pierced ears and the ear hook goes backwards through the ear and closes on top of the earrings. For this type of repoussé earring...

Hunter Pocket Watch, Elaborately Painted Enamel, The Dial Marked Omega
Located in London, GB
A very rare decorative beautiful enamel cultured seed pearl, full-faced Hunter pocket watch, with OMEGA stamped on the dial circa. 1894 -1912, probably aimed at the export market. The ingenuity of the artisan enamelers behind this lavishly decorated pocket watch is what stands out the most. The enamel seems to be painted on either side with old masters—a figure of a woman in period dress on one side and the other side with a reproduction of “An Allegory of Venus and Cupid and A Triumph of Venus” by painter Agnolo Bronzino (1503-1572). The painting displays the ambivalence, eroticism, and obscure imagery that are characteristic of the Mannerist period and is exquisitely executed. When the watchmaking industry began to boom in the 19th Century, pocket watches became the must-have tool for everyday people seeking function and style. By 1894, the most discerning customers wanted to have the very best pocket watch available, and the name OMEGA was synonymous with luxury and quality. We know the dial is in the OMEGA style and not the original, but still of some beauty and age because the forerunner of OMEGA, La Generale Watch Co, was founded at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 by Louis Brandt, who assembled key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen. He sold his watches from Italy to Scandinavia by way of England, his chief market. In 1894, his two sons Louis-Paul and César developed a revolutionary in-house manufacturing and total production control system that allowed component parts to be interchangeable. Watches developed with these techniques were marketed under the OMEGA brand of La Generale Watch Co. By 1903 the success of the OMEGA brand led La Generale Watch Co to spin off the OMEGA brand as its own company, and the OMEGA Watch Co was officially founded in 1903. There are also two important periods for enamel pocket watches: the first quarter of the 1600s and the two decades from 1800 to 1820. From 1800 onward, requests started coming in from China. This era saw the emergence of pocket watches and replicas made for export, some with complicated musical movements and mechanical actions whose functions were exaggerated and made visible so that buyers could marvel at their intricacy. This is an absolutely gorgeous decorative piece and is sold on its skilful enamel paintings. Enamelling is the process of decorating metallic plates in order to turn them into works of art, which takes an exorbitant amount of time to do. The pocket watch boasts an impressively large 5 cm diameter. The pale cream off-white enamel has the Swiss OMEGA symbol with Roman numerals and is signed OMEGA 1882. The circular banding design around the face of the watch is symbolic of OMEGA pocket watches of that period. The gold gilt Hunter casing is also inscribed with the OMEGA symbol. The front and back of the pocket watch are both framed with cultured seed pearl stones throughout, adding a unique touch to this lovely pocket watch. ------------------------------ Condition Report: Very Good.
