About the Item
Do Not Play With Food Table by Taras Yoom
Limited Edition of 5
Dimensions: D 85 x W 120 x H 70 cm
Materials: Wood, brass, metal.
Legend:
Created from remnants of toys found on the planet U2BeBetter. Looking at it, we are reminded of the rule: children are not allowed to play at the table. However, it has been proven that this is a very important part of development, as children learn and become familiar with the world of objects through playing with food. This previously unknown law also applies to adults. This table is a permission for both young and adult people to play with food and better understand the world.
The table imitates elements of children's toys, more specifically, a colorful block construction set. Such tables are assembled by a talented carpenter from the planet U2BeBetter - a master who also builds houses from various objects found near his dwelling.
Zheltyshev Taras
The artist/designer was born in the Siberian city of Tomsk in 1991. Parents, who were doctors and architects, influenced the choice of a future profession. In 2010, he entered the pediatric faculty of the Siberian Medical University. He had two passions at the university – biophysics and cartoon animation. Taras was engaged not only in laboratory part-time work, but also in an architectural bureau, creating interior items and art objects.
In 2013, he took part and eventually won the Maleskin art competition, where he showed his illustrations. After that, art and passion for design began to conquer his soul. It gave him opportunity to constantly experiment and invent something new. So in 2014, while taking part in the international design competition A’ Design Award, he discovered new horizons in the design and in the same year, he showed projects in light fittings at Beijing Design Week 2014. His works were organic and functional. He was able to create natural images with a functionality. From this moment design, artistic activity and biophysics began to merge into a single unity. Taras created a multidisciplinary workshop where he studied many technologies and techniques for processing materials. Over time, his work blurred the boundary between visible reality and the hidden natural processes of organisms which he studied at a medical university. That led to prevalence of histological ornaments, molecular images and the living organisms’ colors and shapes in his works.
Between 2014 and 2018, Taras won several design awards such as the A’ Design Award, Internetional Design Award, Skol Design Award and were featured at I Saloni in Milan and Salone Satelite in Moscow. Taras experimented on the visual functionality of an object that is able to change a person’s attitude to certain things. In 2019, he presented his works at the Collectible Fair in Brussels in the Young Designer category. After that he began to collaborate with two famous Moscow galleries of collectible design. At the same time, he starts cooperation with large factories for which he designed unique art collections of interior items. Again, in 2019, his works were shown in two galleries: Cosmoscow international exhibition of contemporary art in Moscow, and the collectible design exhibition Russian Antique & Art Fair. Since 2019, there have been many publications in magazines (Vogue, Elle decoration, Ad, Interior + Design, Interiors The Best, In / Ex, Forbes, DesignMet, The Rouge, Tatler) about an author who uses biological and natural knowledge with a personalisation approach in art design projects.
Now Taras lives and works in Moscow in his workshop, where he constantly studies natural disciplines and creates objects with a soul.
Taras declares:
I create a person’s attitude to different processes and images. We are surrounded by countless details, complex systems that cannot be realized, but at the same time we live in harmony. I transmit a small part of the invisible world where organised molecules rule, they always strive for symmetry and do this through functional objects for human life. It is necessary to create contact, the exchange of information between complex systems and man, so that the latter can at least imagine them. When we get acquainted with a new device or image, we are getting knowledge about it, and this understanding alone can expand the boundaries in other areas of knowlegde.

Galerie Philia
Galerie Philia is an international contemporary sculptural design and art gallery representing emerging and established designers and artists. The gallery is the brainchild of two brothers who share a lifetime passion for art, literature and philosophy. Their distinct academic background sets them apart from their peers, as it sees them following a rhizomatic and transcultural approach in the way they select works. This involves combining elements from multiple cultures in what becomes a network of harmoniously interconnected roots, ultimately revealing the beauty of each unique creation. The gallery’s non-hierarchical curation sits apart from the ephemerality of trends and focuses instead on the true aesthetic quality of the piece – alluring and timeless. Unlike others, Galerie Philia does not focus on a single style – whether minimalist, organic or raw – but rather embraces heterogeneity. The Galerie Philia takes pride in discovering new talents, providing them with multiple international platforms to showcase their latest creations. As well as propelling the newest generation of 21st century collectible design, Galerie Philia also works with internationally known design artists. Galerie Philia has a strong international presence, with galleries in Geneva, New York and Singapore. In addition to their permanent spaces, the gallery organizes temporary group exhibitions and artists residencies in first-class locations around the world.
