Cult Stool, Sculptural Side Table, Mexican Green Onyx
About the Item
Cult stool/ side table; a hand sculpted stone from a Mexican marble and Mexican onyx conglomerate, remits to primal sculptural-architectural language while displaying materials in a modernist manner. The piece allows for the specificity of the material’s eccentric pattern formations to rein over its final appearance. Each edition; a unique piece.
Working with rocks that are endemic to Mexico contextualizes the work at a geological level. Situating the pieces in a continuing and evolving historical narrative. Like taking part in an archeological exploration, working with native stones reveal a heritage of meticulous craftsmanship developed under the possibilities and limitations of local materials.
When sculpting stone, you only get one chance to get things right. As each rock is different one must tailor form onto the material, in the way of discovering what each piece hides.

Panorammma Atelier
Panorammma is a furniture design laboratory based in Mexico City that seeks to redefine our relationship with functional objects through experimentation with materials and forms. At Panorammma, functionality becomes a premise for visual narratives and a means to conceive altered states of living. Panorammma’s peotics oscillate between disciplines, while focusing on a crucial point of contemporary sensibility: the expanding pathology of the concrete, the alineation of everyday life and the space that abstraction occupies in the social sphere. Panorammma’s designs delve into these themes by exploring past visions of the future and creating the myth of memory. Panorammma pursues the creation of objects that generate fissures from which fantasy spills into our reality and informs an imaginative play; a scenography from parallel fiction. Pseudo prop. Panorammma creates actors through whose presence and performative ability can create of our domestic spaces unusual scenarios. Testimonies of a refusal to live ordinarily. Maika Palazuelos (Designer and Director) initiated Panorammma during the confinement with the intention of creating a permeable and open platform for design exploration. Identifying in expressive domestic objects a possibility for them to complete with and extend our everyday narrative by inserting themselves into it. In a sense, they become trojan horses for artistic discourse by disrupting and reframing the mundane.
*Stone pattern and tone are unique for each piece and cannot be guaranteed to match image portrayed.
