About the Item
A very rare, but one of the best and most iconic floor lamps by Paavo Tynell. This model 9631 lamp is in great original condition straight from the 1950s, apart from the wires and shade which have been changed. The lamp shade is of course made according to the original shades measurements.
Along with the other floor lamps with model numbers starting with the 96 figures, they are some of the most sought after works by Tynell.
This item is stamped Taito, refer to picture please. A real gem to add to your collection or to enrich your home interior, either way this is a one of a kind opportunity.

Paavo Tynell
Paavo Tynell, who was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1890, started his career as a tin- and blacksmith at the company Kory Oy. Simultaneously, he studied at the Helsinki University of Industrial Arts, from which he graduated as a master craftsman in 1913. In 1918, Tynell co-founded the metalwork and lighting company Oy Taito Ab. At first, the company focused mostly on interior and exterior metalwork, such as statues and railings. Later, during the 1930s, Taito also began producing lamps for the lighting sector. Both Alvar Aalto and Kaj Franck would design works for the company.
