About the Item
Paavo Tynell (1890-1973) original floor lamp model. 9615, manufactured by Taito Oy in the 1950s. A beautiful floor lamp with a lacquered metal and rattan stem. All original parts excluding the beautiful fabric shade. The bottom part (often called the eagles foot, due to it's resemblance) is repainted in natural white color.
One of the more rare Tynell floor lamps, this elegant piece will crown any interior. A piece like this can either blend in and tie the room together, or it can stand out and steal everyone´s attention. Something to aim for.
This is an identical model to the so called eagles leg floor lamp, only with the top part straight instead of bent. We have the other model on our 1stdibs online stored.

Paavo Tynell
Paavo Tynell, who was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1890, started his career as a tin- and blacksmith at the company Kory Oy. Simultaneously, he studied at the Helsinki University of Industrial Arts, from which he graduated as a master craftsman in 1913. In 1918, Tynell co-founded the metalwork and lighting company Oy Taito Ab. At first, the company focused mostly on interior and exterior metalwork, such as statues and railings. Later, during the 1930s, Taito also began producing lamps for the lighting sector. Both Alvar Aalto and Kaj Franck would design works for the company.
