John Shelly Bath Pottery Trailed Pattern Studio Pottery Bowl
About the Item
A stylish mid-century Bath Pottery studio pottery large trailed pattern bowl by John Shelly (British, 1907-1995) and dating between 1951 and 1956. The deep conical shaped bowl is hand crafted in red terracotta clay and stands on a narrow round unglazed foot with a white glazed outer body with a trailed feather like patterning to the inner bowl in black against a bright green glazed ground. The bowl is impressed BATH POTTERY to the base and has a very distinctive style similar to works produced at Winchcombe where John Shelly worked.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market.
In good overall condition with wear associated with age and use.
