Valery Mishin is engaged in easel graphics, book graphics, and printing, paintings, objects, installations, ex-libris. He has participated in more than 300 exhibitions in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian cities, as well as abroad - in Warsaw, Ghent, London, Mainz, Mexico City, Paris, Stockholm, etc. since 1966. He was awarded the special prize of the House of Humour and Satire in Gabrovo in 1987, Grand Prix of the I International Biennial of Graphic Art in St. Petersburg in 2002. The artist has illustrated and designed over 50 books. Following the tradition of modernism in his work, Valery Mishin is extraordinarily diverse in book graphics and ex-libris. Some of his illustrations are made traditionally, others are conceptual, some are created in the method that the artist himself called "ReRealizm" or "Off-realism" (from the English. «ReRe» «Residual Realism»). The artist makes prints from real objects, plants, fish and creates a variety of compositions, turning these items into the plane of the sheet. His illustrations to "The Queen of Spades" by A. Pushkin and "Dzhakomeron" by T. Bukovskaya, which were made especially for the publishing house "Rare Books from St. Petersburg", are recognized now as a classic of book illustration art...
