Todd Pierce Art

Todd Pierce is inspired by Andy Warhol, who taught us through his silk-screened images of Campbell Soup cans back in 1962, that objects of our popular culture can be interpreted as art if we open our eyes and minds. Warhol's work certainly captured Americana and Pierce is attempting to capture today's global popular culture through iconography, after all, a picture is worth a thousand words. He has designed brand identities for many companies large and small and redesigned the New York City Subway System sign program in the early 1980s. Pierce has designed the brand identity and signage programs for several municipal and university parking operations and is an expert at wayfinding and signage has recently completed the design of his 150th parking facility. Parking and Transportation clients have included the Cities of Albany, NY, Anchorage, AK, Boise, ID, Boulder, CO, Lincoln, NE, Napa, CA, Omaha, NE, Portland, OR, San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA, Stockton, CA, Westport, WA and several major universities. Pierce was a member of the team that designed the pedestrian wayfinding signage for the City of Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and has designed parking-related signage for the Olympic Speed Skating Oval facility as well as for the parking facilities at Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

Large Animal Wall Sculpture: 'Wormhole'
By Gin Stone
Located in New York, NY
'I am a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on ecofeminism using fiber and mixed media constructions. My materials include hand-dyed commercially fished line and ghost gear, recycled and antique textiles, fabric printed with cyanotype emulsions and found objects. I change the existing surface of recognizable animals by creating a veneer of unexpected color and imagery. This forces the viewer to consider the shape more carefully by visually exploring its new topography. The creation process can be likened to painting with fiber (that has been tinted with hand-mixed dyes) on a three-dimensional canvas. Intense work is spent creating the eyes and ears to convey the emotion of each animal. I look to the work of Joan Mitchell and The Quilters of Gee’s Bend as inspiration for pattern and color, as well as charts, iconography, and satellite imaging.' -Gin Stone...

A 822 - Oversized Big Canvas Artwork Large Blue Original Abstract Painting
By Marco Schmidli
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Swiss born artist Marco Schmidli creates minimalist paintings with a contemporary edge. Placing emphasis on process, he lets the mediums naturally manifest within his artwork. “An important aspect of my artwork is the removal of my own artistic hand. Instead of controlling and demanding the paint move and act a certain way, I let the paint naturally manifest and express its pure form/ true colors/ most natural movement.” Schmidli's work is known for its sensitive surfaces and subtle textures. He has developed specialized techniques for applying and layering color, giving depth to his paintings. This 64 inch high by 90 inch wide original artwork...

Todd Pierce Todd is inspired by Andy Warhol, who taught us through his silk-screened images of Campbell Soup cans back in 1962, that objects of our popular culture can be interpreted as "art" if we open our eyes and minds. Warhol's work certainly captured Americana and Pierce is attempting to capture today's global popular culture through iconography...after all, a picture is worth a thousand words! In 1996 he authored The International Pictograms Standard, a book about international symbols- from their historical beginnings to current worldwide use in helping to communicate simple as well as complex messages. Pictograms are used everwhere in our contemporary culture; on maps and signs, right in your hand on your iPhone....and even posted next to a restroom door! When viewed out of their intended context (much like Warhol's Campbell Soup cans), he finds that pictograms come alive - conveying much more (or less!) if we simply open our eyes and minds. And more. My hope is to bridge language and age barriers through my work, opening a broader understanding as to what is art? PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 2014 celebrates Pierce's 30th year as owner of his graphic design studio - PICTOFORM. He has been recognized as a leader in the field of graphic design as well as the parking and transportation industry, having previously been named by Graphic Design: USA as one of the top 50 designers...
