He studied at the Sculpture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1965. He obtained a diploma with distinction in 1971. A year later he began teaching at his Alma Mater. He became profesor in 1990. He runs the atelier of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He is also a Chair holder of the Sculpture Department at the Faculty of Arts of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. Three times elected rector's terms of office (1990–1996; 1999–2005; 2012-2020).
In the '70s he was the artistic editor of the monthly' Nowy Wyraz.'
