Paul Henry Ramirez Art

American, b. 1963
Paul Henry Ramirez has shown throughout the United States and Europe. He has had numerous one-person museum exhibitions including the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, the Whitney Museum at Philip Morris, and the Newark Museum. Ramirez’s work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Art in America, ArtForum and many others. His works are in many permanent museum collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Whitney Museum, the Hammer Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and many private collections. In 2010, Ramirez coined the term biogeomorphic abstraction to describe his own bold style, a fusion of biomorphic and geometric forms. Ramirez’s figural-based abstractions are often exhibited in dialog with architecture and architectural elements through site-specific installations. Over the past two decades Ramirez has developed and created site-specific installations, which combine his drawings, paintings, objects, sculpture, lighting, music, dance and furniture in dialog with architectural space and architectural elements. Ramirez creates a total environment, inviting viewers into a multidimensional sensory experience. Ramirez’s site-specific installations were first featured in New York City’s alternative exhibition spaces; the Drawing Center, Clock Tower Gallery, Franklin Furnace, and. In 2010, Ramirez was invited to create a major site-specific installation the Newark Museum.

Florence Ponte Vecchio etching by Valerie Thornton
Located in London, GB
To see more, scroll down to "More from this Seller" and below it click on "See all from this Seller." Valerie Thornton (1931 - 1991) Ponte Vecchio, Florence (1972) Etching and aquatint 33 x 20 cm Numbered 1/60 lower left, titled below, and signed and dated lower right, all in pencil. Here, Thornton muses on the dramatic differences in tone and texture between the water of the River Arno, the smooth paleness of the Ponte Vecchio, and the dark terracotta of the city's roofs. Her work is deeply concerned with material, and many of her etchings focus on eroded stone, emotive landscapes, and weathered architecture. Valerie Thornton was a British etcher and printmaker. She was born in London, but was evacuated to Canada with her two brothers during World War II. She returned to London in 1944 and studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art in 1949. From 1950 to 1953 Thornton studied under P.F. Millard at the Regent Street Polytechnic, then spent eight months at Atelier 17 in Paris. In the early 1960s, she moved to New York and worked at Pratt Graphic Art Center. In 1955, she succeeded Howard Hodgkin as assistant art teacher at Charterhouse School and in 1965 she became a founding member of the Print Makers Council. In 1970 she became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painters-Etchers and Engravers. Thornton was a member of The Regent Street Group (a group of nine artists who studied together at the Regent Street Polytechnic in the early 1950s). The group also included Susan Horsfield, Renate Meyer, Michael...

Joel Shapiro, Untitled, abstract geometric limited edition etching, 1992
By Joel Shapiro
Located in New York, NY
Joel Shapiro's post-minimalist work often references the human body, in a variety of poses, represented by geometric forms. In Untitled, 1992, a rust-red rectangle supports three black rectangles piled at varying angles. The forms have light, sketchy lines around them, reminiscent of Futurist dynamism markings or perhaps a draftsman's study of dimensions. A gelatinous blue form intersects the balanced rectangles, while further blue forms tumble out of a fanned series of black triangles. Shapiro has assembled mechanism, geometry, balance, fluid, solid and motion into this dynamic etching, which was published by Pace Prints...
