Luis Selem Art
Luis Selem studied architecture at La Salle University and visual arts with a specialty in plastic arts at the Autonomous University of Querétaro.
Selem has participated in more than 50 group exhibitions and several individual exhibitions in important cultural spaces in Mexico and the United States, as well as in important contemporary art fairs at an international level.
Selem says: “My work is based on experiences lived in my childhood, connecting with that scared child, scared not because of the change, but because of the concern that his most precious objects would suffer some damage during while being moved, hence my desire to wrap to preserve what is most loved ..."
In Selem's work, observation is not enough; there is something else that is behind what we see and that causes the work to be different for each person that looks at it. Concealment makes them sacred, gives them value that they would lose if we saw them as they are. The action of wrapping objects accentuates them, makes them more corporeal.
Alfredo Ginocchio Gallery has represented Selem for years and has promoted his work at various international art fairs in Latin America and the United States.
