Pink Flowers - Original Oil on Canvas by Laura D'Andrea - 2010s
By Laura D'Andrea
Located in Roma, IT
Pink Flowers is an original artwork realized by Laura D'Andrea in the 2010s. Original oil on canvas. Hand-signed by the artist on the lower-left corner. Perfect conditions. A very lovely still life characterized by a vase of very beautiful pink flowers. Laura D’Andrea is an Italian artist and engraver. She was born in Sicily, where she currently lives and works. She studied printing techniques and especially xylography at the Academies of Fine Arts in Rome and Urbino, as well as Philosophy and Literature at the University of Grenoble. Her first exhibition was “La mia Sicilia” (My Sicily) in 1969 at the Galleria Flaccovio in Palermo, where, a few years later, she exhibited with “Hippies a Londra” (Hippies in London). In the 1980s, she moved to Il Cairo in Egypt, where she studied Arabic calligraphy and found the opportunity to realize a series of graphic works to be exhibited at the Egypt Academy of Rome. In those years, she dedicated herself to doing research on the historical Sicilian Baroque art and culture. Between 1986 and 1988, her solo show “L’Immaginario nel Barocco” (The Baroque Culture) took place at the Galleria Artivisive in Rome, at the Museum and Library of Ursino, at the Recupero in Sicily, and at the European Parliament in Strasbourgh. In 2002, she participated in the exhibition “Memoria Greca nel Mediterraneo” (Greek memory in the Mediterranean) in Sicily. In 2007, she exhibited in Rome and in Saudi Arabia. Between 2011 and 2015, she started exploring the world of jazz music, which would become an important subject for her future artworks; in those same years, she exhibited her works in England and in Belgium. Her artworks represent a leap in the Mediterranean Sea, between Sicilian and Arab cultures. Laura D’Andrea loves jazz music: on her canvases, we can perceive the sounds of places and people far in both place and time. Other important elements of her works are calligraphy and Archeoscrittura. Archeoscrittura is a fascinating practice consisting of artists exploring their own genetic memories for finding signs of archaic scriptures. Laura D'Andrea draws inspiration from the depths of her personal memory, and from the study of symbols found in the Archaic writing in the Mediterranean. Her works can be viewed at the Museum of Modern Art Pecci in Florence; at the Museum of woodcut Carpi in Modena; at the Museum of Modern Art Maga in Varese, Milan; at the Museum of Modern Art in Valencia, Spain; at the Museum of Art Mart in Trento and Rovereto with the donation of Mirella Bentivoglio.

Located in Roma, IT
Jazz in the Desert ("Jazz nel Deserto") is an original artwork realized by Laura D'Andrea in 2017. Brushed steel. Perfect conditions. Interesting steel plate representing a jazz music concert. The brushed steel series is a beautiful exemplar of unusual techniques experimented by the artist during the last years. The artwork represents a composition with several silouhettes of musicians at the top, and a desert landscape at the bottom. Laura D'Andrea is an artist who adores both music and natural landscapes, and who manages to combine the two of them in an original way. Laura D’Andrea is an Italian artist and engraver. Urbex is the English acronym for urban exploration and is an activity that consists of searching for and locating abandoned infrastructure with the goal of visiting, photographing and conveying its contents, with particular involvement of methodologies from geography, anthropology, sociology to cultural studies. Her works have been in the past approached to the works of Anselm Kiefer (b. 1945) and Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1770), but in Gullotta's paintings the absence of color makes the spaces particularly ethereal, allowing them to be ideally lifted to new places and to new life. An artist of international caliber who has decided to entrust her return to her homeland to Almach Art Gallery in Milan, while maintaining connections with important galleries, such as Marlborough Fine Art in London and Galerie Koch in Hanover. The artwork represents the famous Velasca Tower in Milan. This artwork was exhibited during the Daniela Gullotta...

Contaminating the Innocent - Young Girl Swimming Surrounded by Plastic Waste
By Bruno Surdo
Located in Chicago, IL
"Contaminating the Innocent" is a bold statement on our society today. Plastics are everywhere and what they are doing to the environment is devastating. What they are doing to the next generation is even more catastrophic. Bruno plays with this idea by bringing this angelic child to the forefront of the issues at hand. We are drawn in by her innocence yet taunted by her surroundings. Bruno Surdo Contaminating the Innocent oil on canvas 48h x 48w in 121.92h x 121.92w cm BRS072 Bruno A. Surdo b. Paladini - Original Oil on Canvas by Laura D'Andrea - 1998
By Laura D'Andrea
Located in Roma, IT
Paladini is an original artwork realized by Laura D'Andrea in 1998. Oil on canvas. Hand signed by the artist on the lower right margin. Perfect conditions. It represents a beautiful still life; the colors have been spread out on the canvas with a spatula. The name of the artwork recalls traditional objects of the Sicilian culture: Paladini, indeed, are the typical marionettes of Sicilian theatre. The colors are very bright and vivid: the composition in the center of the artwork stands out on the intense blue background. Laura D’Andrea is an Italian artist and engraver. She was born in Sicily, where she currently lives and works. She studied printing techniques and especially xylography at the Academies of Fine Arts in Rome and Urbino, as well as Philosophy and Literature at the University of Grenoble. Feeling of Desert
By Laura D'Andrea
Located in Roma, IT
Feeling of Desert ("Paesaggio di Sole") is an original artwork realized by Laura D'Andrea in 2014. Oil and mixed media on canvas. Hand signed by the artist on the lower right margin. Perfect conditions. The artwork is a beautiful oil and mixed media on canvas representing a desert landscape. The colors convey a warm sensation; the colors and the shapes of nature recall an African landscape. The artist travelled much in North Africa, discovering the sounds and colors of those lands. She uses especially pink and violet as warm colors. The technique is very interesting: oil, acrylic and mixed media on canvas. Laura D’Andrea is an Italian artist and engraver. She was born in Sicily, where she currently lives and works. She studied printing techniques and especially xylography at the Academies of Fine Arts in Rome and Urbino, as well as Philosophy and Literature at the University of Grenoble. Her works can be viewed at the Museum of Modern Art Pecci in Florence; at the Museum of woodcut Carpi in Modena; at the Museum of Modern Art Maga in Varese, Milan; at the Museum of Modern Art in Valencia, Spain; at the Museum of Art Mart in Trento and Rovereto with the donation of Mirella Bentivoglio..
