José Palmeiro Martínez was a Spanish painter and lithographer, from the School of Paris, born in Madrid on August 19, 1903 and died in Bergerac, France, on March 15, 1984. Of Galician roots, the data on the birth of José Palmeiro remain imprecise: although those stated here are those generally accepted, there are certain sources that affirm that he was born in 1901 and that he is a native of Betanzos (Galicia). At the age of 18, he worked in the workshops of the newspaper El Sol where his drawings were published. José Palmeiro arrived in Paris in 1925 where he settled in the Montparnasse neighborhood.
