Bert Beirne Art
Bert Beirne is a native Cincinnatian, who received a BFA from the University of Cincinnati. Using traditional techniques, she compasses still life paintings of familiar, but refined objects. Bert explores texture as well as the dramatic play of light on each surface. She also uses contrasts in color to evoke a mood of mystery. Bert begins by applying several coats of primer to fine, Belgium linen. She then adds successive layers of paint, creating rich colors having depth and luminosity. A final coat of non-yellowing varnish protects the surface and ensures longevity. In style and technique, her works are comparable to the still life paintings of early 17th-century Dutch masters, with the same striking naturalism and subtle hues built by layers of translucent glazes. Bert's paintings have received top awards in numerous regional and national exhibitions and are included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, Ireland, England and Puerto Rico.
