Nan Hass Feldman
Nan Hass Feldman has been an artist and art instructor for more than four decades. While teaching at museums and universities over the years, Feldman continued to paint non-stop — even when those opportunities included an “Artist Loft” aboard a cruise ship and leading painting retreats in various countries around the world.
Feldman began taking art classes at the Brooklyn Museum with her sister for years, beginning when she was very young. By the time she was in her teens, Feldman decided to commit to pursuing a life in art. She holds a BFA, an MA, and an MFA in painting and began working as an art teacher at an elementary school before having her daughter, Rebecca.
Feldman became the first art instructor at the Danforth Museum in Framingham, Massachusetts. She primarily worked for two other museums including the Worcester Art Museum and the DeCordova Museum while developing her style — her richly colorful and playful landscapes, whether they’re her oil paintings or her acrylics, are creatively composed and see a mix of Expressionist and abstract influences.
Feldman has had over 50 solo exhibitions and 50 group shows including 28 museum exhibitions. Her work has been widely collected in five countries and is held in the collections of corporations such as Fidelity Investments, Meditech and Veryfine Products.
Feldman’s awards include fellowships from the Worcester Art Museum, the Basil H. Alkazzi National Acquisition Award, the Liquitex Fine Art Achievement Award and the Massachusetts Arts and Humanities Foundation Commission from the Museum Without Walls. Feldman’s work has been covered in the Boston Globe magazine and Fidelity magazine.

- "Necessary Risk", contemporary, landscape, blue, clouds, mountain, acrylicBy Frantz LexyLocated in Natick, MA“Necessary Risk" is a contemporary landscape painting by Frantz Lexy. Under the blue sky, vast cumulonimbus white clouds tower over a rocky mountain. This 20 x 16 inch painting is rendered in acrylic mediums and is signed on the back of the panel. Through painting, Frantz Lexy explores personal identity, belonging, and humanity’s place in nature and its relationship with technology. Lexy uses personal storytelling as a vehicle to engage contemporary concerns and invites others to find their own narratives through his imagery. Lexy is fascinated with how paradoxical imagery creates tension and compels us to reflect on our immediate reaction. Human figures are recurring motifs in Lexy’s works. He is equally interested in texture and abstraction, and how they play within his landscapes. Lexy’s portfolio is a reflection on the plurality that exists within every individual, and specifically how that relates to people of color. Frantz Lexy is a self-taught artist and experimentation is a driving force behind his vibrant acrylic paintings. His work has been shown in galleries across Massachusetts. He is represented by Fountain Street...Category

- "Roxbury" Massachusetts, Acrylic, Street Scene, Winner Student PrizeLocated in Detroit, MISALE ONE WEEK ONLY “Roxbury” is a stunning landscape of architecture and city deleterious. Moon-Joo Lee received her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Department of Painting in 2003 and received the schools' Top Prize with this painting. “Roxbury” subsequently was on display at Chrysler’s World Headquarters for a period of time. While at Cranbrook she began to document the ubiquitous construction sites skirting Detroit and similar cities across the country. The transitory urban fabric became her compelling subject, emblematic of fluctuating socio-economic conditions and a widespread culture of uncertainty. - Joe Houston of Cranbrook Art Museum. Lee’s painting “Roxbury” captures the cycle of construction, destruction and reconstruction that perpetually transforms the American city scene. In this image, a business that boasts NEW in its signage is already in the process of being destroyed. This could be a scene of bombing or environmental damage, but per Moon-Joo Lee’s aesthetics, the mountainous terrain of assorted refuse is there to remind the viewer that perhaps new and better do not necessarily mean that nor do they guarantee positive change. Lee's contemporary landscape underscores the extent to which nature has been supplanted by a manufactured environment, portraying rampant cultural transformation as a modern expression of manifest destiny. Moon-Joo Lee is one of the many well-known artists who attended The Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, that was designed by architect and faculty member, Eliel Saarinen who collaborated with Charles and Ray Eames on chair and furniture design. It is the country’s top ranked, graduate-only program in architecture, design and fine art. Each year, just 75 students are invited to study and live on the landmark Saarinen-designed campus which features: private studios, state-of-the art workshops, the renowned Cranbrook Art Museum and 300 acres of forests, lakes and streams, all a short drive from the city of Detroit. The focus at Cranbrook is on studio practice in one of ten disciplines including Architecture, 2D and 3D Design, Ceramics, Fiber, Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Print Media, and Sculpture. The program is anchored by celebrated Artists- and Designers-in-Residence, one for each discipline, all of whom live and practice on campus alongside the graduate students. Numerous creative artists who are alumni of Cranbrook include: Harry Bertoia, Florence Knoll, Jack Lenor Larsen, Donald Lipski, Duane Hanson, Nick Cave, Hani Rashid, George Nelson, Urban Jupena (Nationally recognized fiber artist), Artis Lane (the first African-American artist to have her sculpture, "Sojourner Truth," commissioned for the Emancipation Hall in the Capital Visitor Center in Washington DC), Cory Puhlman (televised Pastry Chef extraordinaire), Thom O’Connor (Lithographs), Paul Evans (Brutalist-inspired sculpted metal furnishings), Eugene Caples (small bronze images/abstract), Morris Brose (Bronze Sculptures), Herb Babcock (blown glass), Larry Butcher (mixed media), Lauren Anais Hussey (Abstract), Andrea Eis (film, photography), Lilian Swann Saarinen (Sculpture), Douglas Semivan...Category

- Nice Try HarveyBy Jenny DayLocated in New Orleans, LA"Lone Star, True But Whatever There was I time when I ached for the world. Before cell phones, before social media, I felt the urgency of environmental damage, of social injustice. Nothing seems to have gotten better. I'm not numb to it, but in some way I've become flip, a resigned humor like a layer of scar tissue between my concerns and the abrasion all around. Still, I was surprised how playful these paintings became. Disasters intertwine: Urns, much like the one that held my twin sister's ashes, a familial disaster, come to the forefront, variations of childhood memory. Images from photos I took in Port Aransas...Category
