This lovely Scottish Impressionist landscape oil painting is by noted artist David Fulton RWS. Painted circa 1900 it is a pastoral landscape depicting a shepherd and his flock in a landscape. The palette is one of rich autumnal tones with the sheep in the middle ground and water and wooded hills beyond. The Impressionistic brushstrokes are fluid and bold. This is a superb Scottish landscape from a well respected artist. Signed middle left. Provenance. Midlands estate. Condition. Oil on canvas, 30 inches by 25 inches unframed and in excellent condition. Framed in a gilt gallery frame 38 by 33 inches framed. In excellent condition. David Fulton RSW (1848-1930) Fulton was born in Parkhead Scotland and Studied at the Glasgow School of art. He was a painting of landscape, Interiors and Figurative subjects. His works were exhibited widely in Principal London galleries in addition to Scottish venues. Elected RSW 1890 and exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy 72, Royal Society of Watercolours 85, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts 156 and the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool 17. He is represented at the Paisley Institute.
