Victorian Diamond and Amethyst Yellow Gold Ostrich Brooch
About the Item
A fine and impressive antique Victorian 0.02 carat amethyst, 0.13 carat diamond and 15k yellow gold 'ostrich' bar brooch.
This fine and impressive antique bird brooch has been crafted in 15k yellow gold.
The Victorian brooch is ornamented with two differing sized yellow gold settings realistically modelled in the form of ostriches.
The ostriches are each embellished with a collet set cabochon cut amethyst representing the eye, in addition to impressive pavé set Dutch cut diamonds reproducing the feathers.
The 15k yellow gold bar secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and clasp fastening, and benefits from the additional security of a 9k yellow gold safety chain.
This impressive Victorian brooch is fitted to a fine and impressive hinged leatherette presentation box with a velvet and satin lined interior, securing with a push fit catch.
The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'By Special Appointment. To His Excellency the Governor, Government House, Capetown. A Fischer & Co. Jewellers & Watchmakers. Gold and Silversmiths, Diamond Setters, Medallists, Opticians and Engravers, Port Elizabeth'.
This diamond bird bar brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 15 karat gold.
This impressive antique brooch is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.
