A rare and complete Vintage Jean Painlevé Seahorse Suite from the 1930s including the original box. The striking style and drama of this set owing its provenance to renowned French filmmaker and photographer Jean Painlevé. The jewels, designed to accompany his renowned 1934 film L'Hippocampe (The Seahorse). Painlevé, a prolific filmmaker, amassed more than 200 films, including his ground-breaking underwater films. One of his most famous works is L'Hippocampe (1934). A rare opportunity to acquire an incredible piece of French Art Deco wearable art. Vintage Condition: Very good without damage or noteworthy wear. Some age related wear to the plating on the cuff which does not detract when wearing. The other pieces appear unworn. Given this suite is 90 years old, this condition is remarkable. Orginal cardboard fitted box in good condition accompanies the suite.
