Japanese Antique Door "Wall Decoration" 1860s-1900s / Abstract Art Wabi Sabi

About the Item

This is a very old Japanese sliding warehouse door. It was made during the Meiji period (1860s-1900s). It is constructed mainly of cedar wood, with straw wrapped around a cedar board in the center. At that time, it was covered with plaster. Over time, however, the plaster has peeled off, exposing the substrate. This condition is not artificial and is as beautiful as an abstract painting. Please hang it on the wall and enjoy it as art. This item evokes the spirit of wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence. It is the opposite of vulgarity, a beauty of modesty and modesty, the beauty of the unconventional. This is a unique and very rare item. Weight 5 kg. Since ancient times, people have created and passed down necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the severe struggle against nature, and have nurtured a lifestyle culture. By using these objects over a long period of time, they accumulate a flavor and reflect a way of life. The more severe the natural environment and the weaker we are, the stronger their power becomes. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly re-creating things around us by modifying them opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we collect beautiful, powerful, and unique carefully selected antiquities from Japan.
