Alexandra Round Dining Table by Autonomous Furniture
About the Item
A dramatic round table featuring a thick blackened steel base. The curved conical base is meticulously curved and joined to create a virtual seamless connection, acting as a sculptural form. The 8-degree taper helps form depth and an intrinsic value to the piece. Designer Kirk Van Ludwig wanted the table balanced allowing for a person to sit on the end of the table without any movement, this was achieved through the use of 3/8” thickness and a large steel flange.
The Alexandra table is shown in Torched Oak with a slight silver onyx oil and wax finish and features our tapered B6 edge and signature brass coins, to complete the artful dining table.
Features:
- Contemporary design of a round dining table contrasting the raw steel base with natural solid wood top.
- Torched Oak tabletop with a slight silver onyx oil and wax finish and placement of our signature brass coins.
- Designed by Kirk Van Ludwig, seven-time Designer of the Year finalist for Western Living magazine. A modern furniture aficionado.

Autonomous Furniture
We are designers and craftsmen, disrupting the modern home with dramatically contemporary furnishings, built from the finest wood in the world. This is the mantra of Autonomous Furniture, led by Kirk Van Ludwig, the designer and leader of the contemporary design and build furniture company founded in 2013. As an outdoor adventurer who appreciates the West Coast’s mountains and forests close up, Kirk often draws on the inherent forms and patterns discovered in the wilderness. There is a natural pull for him to want to disrupt contemporary ideas about furniture design by throwing away many of the conventional parameters that have dominated the craft. For him, the ability to work in analogue is a dying art, it’s so much more visceral, and he feels the furniture in the end benefits and gives it soul. A piece waiting to be placed and purposed in your own imagined sanctuary. Our furniture’s origins are rooted by the forests of beautiful British Columbia, we take great care in nurturing the environment in all aspects of our furniture design and manufacturing. At Autonomous, we strive to design and manufacture furniture to benefit the circular economy. The goal is to pass Autonomous Furniture pieces down through generations, rather than discarding to a landfill, with an ability to maintain its pristine condition.
Wood species: Torched Oak (shown), Black Walnut, Whitened Ash, White Oak
