Yara Chair

About the Item

Dedicated to Yara, the chair began with the experimenting with different ways of working the solid wood in the studio. The circular legs and the back leg were made of solid steambent wood. In this technique, the pieces are submerged in water for two weeks until they get into a steambox for softening momentarily and then be bent manually with help of handmade jigs. After drying, the residual stress of the wood changes leaving a new form imprinted on it, forever changing its structure. This process makes it possible to achieve more daring shapes, increasing its resistance and respecting the natural plasticity of wood. The final set features a composition of light curves that allow comfort through flexing. The chair is executed in solid wood boards and finished with natural oil.
