Available today, this magnificent Mid-Century Modern ten dining chair set n hardwood & beige leather by Joaquim Tenreiro in the sixties is the find of the year! Each chair features a solid Rosewood structure upholstered in beige leather. The legs and the backrest are delicately curved and the square seat is very comfortable. The wood work is absolutely stunning, characteristically of Joaquim Tenreiro. The set was designed specifically for Bloch Editors, a publishing & broadcasting Brazilian conglomerate. Sergio Rodrigues and Joaquim Tenreiro were both hired to design Modern furniture for the Bloch’s headquarters in Sao Paulo and these chairs belonged to the salons as is shown in the vintage publications...

Available today, this pair of midcentury modern chairs made in Brazilian Rosewood, known as Jacaranda & Cane designed by Alexandre Rapoport in the 1960’s are gorgeous! The delicate set features a Rosewood structure with caning in the seat. The Brazilian Rosewood is nothing less than spectacular and displays vibrant wood veins that almost feel the chairs are alive! The pair is extremely light weight, as a result of the Jacaranda's aging process. Extensive logging has virtually eliminated Rosewood from the Brazilian forests, so that today it is not supposed to be logged. The only material that can be sold legally is old stock. By owning a vintage piece made of old Jacaranda, you’re not only getting a beautiful collectible but also helping this species to recuperate. This gorgeous set would look great in any mid century modern, modern, contemporary environment used as dining or accent chairs. About the author, Alexandre Rapoport (Rio de Janeiro, 1929) is a Brazilian painter, architect, draftsman and engraver. Self-taught of Russian origin, he began painting at the Faculty of Architecture before the end of the 1950s. He studied drawing with Ubi Paiva and, while a student, attended engraving classes by Raymundo Cella at the National School of Fine Arts; it was then that he participated in his first group exhibitions promoted by the Federal Government. He began in the 1950s decade with craftwork and soon after, to the production in series. Jorge Zalszupin a native of Warsaw, Poland, studied architecture at Bucharest’s Ecole des Beaux Arts. While working as an architect in Paris, he found inspiration in articles about Brazilians Oscar Niemeyer and Roberto Burle Marx and immigrated to Brazil. His work as an architect created a demand for decoration and furniture proposals that suited the style of his projects and, for many years, Zalszupin designed and executed them for his clients. The demand was as great as the desire to grow and expand his business, and he then decided to found Atelier Móveis in November 1959. A significant part of Zalszupin's furniture production is tributary to his architecture. He used new design language and tendencies, while maintaining a functional view of Ambience for internal spaces. L’Atelier was a design collective of architects, engineers, craftsmen, and a full-scale team of professionals that did everything from researching materials to finalizing the product. Jorge Zalszupin has developed some of the most iconic models in Brazilian Modern furniture and has grown a lot in popularity in the last few years.
