Andrianna Shamaris African Wooden Chair or Side Table, Ivory Coast

About the Item

Beautiful patina on this 19th century hand carved wooden chair from the Ivory Coast of Africa. Rare with 6 hand carved bevelled legs and motif on the back rest. This can also be used as a low side table. A piece of art. This chair was sourced in the spirit of wabi-sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility. This kind of luxury is for a select few: The Emperor of Japan had a wabi garden. Wabi is for people who already have a lot. Measures: 16" wide x 15" deep x 10" seat height x 12" back rest. Andrianna Shamaris. The Leader In Modern Organic Design.

  • Tiny Wooden Chairs in Style African
    Located in Milano, IT
Beautiful pair of small Style African chairs, dating from the 1960s. The small chairs are made entirely of wood and, as can be seen from the type of design, in Style African . The workmanship looks rough, but it is the African style that designs this way; its beauty comes from this. The legs are rounded, narrow in the center to open again into two wooden chalices...
