Yngve Ekström 'Arka' Armchair in Oak

About the Item

Yngve Ekström for Stolab, 'Arka' armchair, oak, Sweden, 1955 This armchair is a prime example of Scandinavian Mid-Century design ideology. This spindle back chair is known for its comfort and durability with a very elegant look from every point of view. A well-preserved chair that is clear in its execution where all possible decorative conceits are left out. Yngve Ekström (1913-1988) was a Swedish furniture designer, wood carver and architect. Ekström was one of the pioneers of what we nowadays call modern Scandinavian furniture. In his designs, he combined strictness with frivolity and elegance with functionality. Kindly note that the chair is in good, used condition with signs of age and use, including some spots. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.
