Hardcover with dust jacket. 240 pp. A book on the architecture of the English Georgian house that claims that the Georgian style of house, whether it be in London, Dublin, Edinburgh or Bath, will always be the archetypal British home. The author describes the development of the Georgian style in Britain as well as the colonies, from its beginnings in the early 18th c through the mid-19th c. Each chapter is devoted to elements of a Georgian home including roofs, brickwork and stonework, door and windows, staircases, fireplaces, wallpaper, moldings, plasterwork and more.
