About the Item

A Pre columbian Moche portrait Vessel A vessel modelled on a Amazonian native American Indian, a personage with a grimacing face perhaps a prisoner the shaved head and fringe is typical of indigenous Amazonian tribes, who wear this hair style, with the head and hair painted red with achiote. Moche V period Circa 600-700 AD Peru. Condition Intact, some damage to rim Size Height 20 cm, width 25 cm. Ex Late Romy Rey Uk collection  Acquired before 1960.
