Dessin Cups
About the Item
Dessin is a collection of tea and coffee cups inspired by the cup holders called podstakannik which Irina had in her childhood home.
The sculptural handles are a représentation of those silly, imperfect drawings Irina makes.
Each designer has his way of expressing his ideas, but most of the time, everything starts with a sketch or a doodle.
The handles are those sketches brought to into a 3D shape, and they are interchangeable.
Dessin cups are part of the Extraordinary Objects collection. It was part of the Here&Now exhibition during Detroit Month of Design 2021, and Proximity exhibition at Nationale Art Gallery, in Portland Oregon, December 2021.
Materials:
Hand blown borosilicate glass; 3D printed multi-jet fusion handles.
Techniques: The glass is handblown in Istanbul, Turkey and the handles are 3D printed in Portland, Oregon.

Studio Flore
Irina Flore is a multidisciplinary designer and the founder of Studio Flore, a design studio focusing on design research, functional art objects, and innovative products. Flore's design practice focuses on functional art -everyday objects. The statement pieces that Irina likes to design are objects that tell a story. Each design has an elaborated process with research on material, form, and function. The fabrication and the process is essential aspects of the narrative of her designs. She collaborates with artisans, and this is a significant part of her practice because she grew up in a family of craftspeople in a small town in Romania. Her design practice focuses on advanced technologies but also on old traditions and crafts.

- Coralia Ring DishBy Irina FloreLocated in Portland, ORCoralia decoration dish is a geometric representation of the coral shapes and it is inspired by the colorful sea life. The dish can be used as a display object but it can also be proposed as a jewelry dish. Coralia is handcrafted by exceptional craftsmen in Istanbul, Turkey and it is intended to bring joy into our homes. The design was part of the Extraordinary objects collection. Extraordinary Objects are results of research work on form and function while questioning our relationship and interaction with everyday objects. These results are not ordinary shapes, but they are ordinary through their function, and they have to be understood before being used. Each collection is sculptural and has a different material and fabrication method. The designer explored various techniques and materials, from handcrafted glass to laser-cutting metal and 3D printed ceramics. Irina intends to make the visitors curious while inviting them to analyze, question, and interact with these sculptures differently and try to understand their functions. The ring dish...Category
