Japanese Antique Pottery Jar 15th-16th Century/ Wabi-Sabi Jar/Tokoname Vase

About the Item

It is a very old jar in Japan. This is a pottery called Tokoname ware. Tokoname is a kiln located in Aichi prefecture, Japan. It is said to have originated around the 12th century. Also, in Japan, there are 6 kilns with a long history that are still going on. It is one of them.(Tokoname Kiln is marked with a red circle on the map.) It is believed to be a jar that contained seeds. Depending on the flame in the kiln, a gradation of colors from brown to dark brown is created. There are linear marks on the side of the vase. This is a pattern created intentionally using the tip of a spatula. This is an important clue to the era, and the era of this vase is the Muromachi period (1400s-1500s). Please take a look at the reference image posted. This is a 360 degree landscape painting, so you can display it without getting bored. I also filled it with water to about 1/3 and left it for a day, but there was no leakage. There are also several missing parts around the mouth. There is a crack in the neck part, but it has been glued together without any problems. Due to its small size, it can be placed anywhere. Weight: 5.95kg Also, I put about 1/3 of water in it and left it for a day, but there was no water leakage. You can put flowers directly into it for decoration.
