Chinese Dark Glazed Jar, c. 1900

About the Item

With a balanced profile and a lustrous, speckled glaze, this petite Chinese kitchen vessel is a charming example of handcrafted pottery. As evidenced by its interior glaze, the small jar was originally used for storing liquids such as rice wine, vinegar, soy sauce or pickled vegetables. The vessel has a tapered, ovoid form, with rounded shoulders topped by loop handles and a short, constrained neck. The dark brown glaze catches the light with a matte sheen, contrasting the unglazed base for a striking silhouette. Additional Dimensions: Diameter of Opening: 3.25" Diameter of Base: 3"
