Laminated Acrylic Ospiti Collection Sculpture by A. Anastasio for Design Gallery
About the Item
An extremely limited edition acrylic sculpture designed by Andrea Anastasio in 1999 for his Ospiti Collection for Design Gallery of Milan, Italy. Sometimes called “Passato” and constructed of florescent red acrylic laminated between clear acrylic, this piece is a clever formulation of a two dimensional fruit bowl that possesses a depth resulting from the shifting colors and reflections caused by the fluorescent laminated acrylic.
Andrea Anastasio is an Italian artist, designer, and philosopher who created several collections for Design Gallery Milan, a gallery that showcases contemporary design and art. In addition to joining Memphis group, a team of Italian designers who became famous in the 1980s for their unconventional use of shapes, colors, textures, and patterns, Anastasio has also designed products for consumer brands such as Foscarini, Artemide and Alessi. Design Gallery Milano was founded by Luisa Delle Piane in 1994 and showcases contemporary art and design. Working with many of the most important designers of the late 20th and early 21st century, the gallery has offered limited edition and exclusive items from Ettore Sottsass, Johanna Grawunder, Andrea Branzi, and Michele De Lucchi, among others.
