Early-Mid 18th Century Baroque Carved & Gilt Column
About the Item
Early-mid 18th century Baroque carved & gilt column, European. Likely Italian from a chapel or church. Carved wood and gilded. Now on a very heavy, to hold the weight of the column, custom iron stand (lifts off - iron shaft with attached round iron base). Three female figures encircle the base. Acanthus leaf carved & scrolled capital. Well fluted body. Numerous losses & blackening in areas. A wonderful sculptural, architectural accent for a niche, hall, stair landing, or other space.
