About the Item

1940's Mildred O'Quinn brown satin jacquard skirt suit with a fun fabric depicting swing dancers. The classic '40's silhouette includes a peplum shaped jacket with defined shoulders and a modified a-line skirt. The jacket has hidden hook closures and the skirt zips and hooks at the side with a tulip shaped front hemline. Put on your favorite Benny Goodman or Duke Ellington tunes for a nostalgic swing in style! A side note on fashion history ... Geoffrey Beene worked for Mildred O'Quinn in the early 1950's and apparently was fired for spilling mayonnaise on a chair! CONDITION Good vintage condition with some signs of age and wear to the fabric. There appears to be both an alteration and repair on the skirt at a side seam, hem and the tulip shaped slit. Photograph 12 shows the alteration and photograph 13 shows the skirt inside out in order to see the hem tape and purple stitched repair which are not visible on the outside of the skirt. 'OK' has been written in ink on the Mildred O'Quinn label. Professionally cleaned and ready for wear. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS The size is unmarked though the suit best fits U.S. sizes 8 - 10 with attention to the following measurements. For visual reference, the mannequin in the photographs is a size 4.
