Ladies and Gentlemen - Screenprint by Andy Warhol - 1975

1975

About the Item

Ladies and Gentlemen is a colored screen print realized in 1975 by the Pop artist Andy Warhol.  Reference: Feldman-Schellmann, II.126. Monogrammed in pencil lower right and edition lower left on the reverse. Edition of 105/150 Slight traces of wear on the reverse and an almost invisible stain, the other materials have been preserved. The artwork is from the series Ladies and Gentlemen. With this series the artist wants to temporarily abandon his iconic portraits of stars like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis. He thus decides to pay attention to unknown and ignored figures. By photographing drag queens in the New York night clubs, the artist elevates them and makes them his sources of inspiration.
