Provenance: private collection - Salisbury, UK. Printed in two colors: black and red. Poster produced for a special traveling exhibition of Krasner's work "Lee Krasner, Paintings, Drawings, and Collages" at City Art Gallery, York, UK from April 30 - May 21, 1966. The image featured on this poster is a (colorless) version of Krasner's 1955, 58" x 56", oil, paper, and canvas collage on cotton duck canvas "Bird Talk", ("Lee Krasner: A Catalogue Raisonné" - Landau No. 288, page 145). "Bird Talk" would later sell at Christie's, New York, NY on November 11, 2015 for $1,205,000, Lot No. 145. Printer's imprint lower center.
"...Krasner had a major triumph in 1965 when British critic and curator Bryan Robertson mounted a retrospective of her work at the Whitechapel Gallery, in London. "Lee Krasner, Paintings, Drawings, and Collages", a show which took two years to organize, was circulated to five additional venues by the Arts Council of Great Britain." - Lee Krasner: A Catalogue Raisonné" - Landau, page 316.

Biography:
Lenore "Lee" Krasner (born Lena Krassner on October 27, 1908 - June 19, 1984) was an American abstract expressionist painter, with a strong specialty in collage, who was married to Jackson Pollock. Although there was much cross-pollination between their two styles, the relationship somewhat overshadowed her contribution for some time. Krasner’s training, influenced by George Bridgman and Hans Hofmann, was the more formalized, especially in the depiction of human anatomy, and this enriched Pollock’s more intuitive and unstructured output.
Krasner is now seen as a key transitional figure within abstraction, who connected early-20th-century art with the new ideas of postwar America, and her work fetches high prices at auction. She is also one of the few female artists to have had a retrospective show at the Museum of Modern Art.
