About the Item
Robin Rice is a successful gallerist and photographer having spent the past 40 years living and working in New York City and Bridgehampton. While still the owner of the Robin Rice Gallery in New York City, where she continues to represent and nurture artists from around the world, she has taken the bold step of moving to the Lofts in Beacon, NY to focus on her own work as a fine art photographer.
Robin fell in love with the unique 12-acre property of a 19th century textile mill, just along the banks of the Fishkill Creek. The 20 foot ceiling, live/work Beacon Lofts, nestled in the Hudson Valley, are also home to a thriving modern day artist community.
With Beacon’s rapidly developing art scene and its close proximity to the Dia Beacon Art Foundation, Robin saw the opportunity for her own creation and growth. “It’s all the inspiration I needed to make the loft a space for my own work. It’s a dream come true”, she says.
Robin is carefully unearthing and curating her extensive personal collection dating back to when she was 16 years old. Her mission is simple: to document the world around her in a cinematic way. Whether capturing the grit of New York in its glory days of Studio 54 or the innate beauty of tucked-away South American landscapes or the reflective moments of unknowing subjects, her photographs are always authentic.
As a photographer, she has a dreamy and bohemian way of portraying people and situations that is reflective of the way she lives her life situations connecting to people through art, food, travel and dance. Her meticulous eye, attention to detail and innate instinct for visual excellence are only some of the traits that make Robin’s photography exceptional in every way. Edition 1 of 20.

- Floating Bust, Brazil, 1997By Barnaby HallLocated in Hudson, NYABOUT After 30 years of only exhibiting fine art photography, the Robin Rice Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition featuring a selection of her gallery photographers and three visual artists new to the space: Erica Hauser, and Matt Kinney. The selected works of these well-established Beacon, NY artists blend with the gallery’s fine art photography. Upon entering the gallery, viewers will encounter figurative sculptures, abstract paintings, and ink wash drawings alongside fine art photography. Since Robin Rice’s move to Beacon, NY, this concept developed organically; the group exhibition is a fusion of artistic mediums inspired by chance encounters between Rice and friends at art events in Beacon. After spending time with creatives who've spent lockdown in studios, Rice carefully chose works most apropos with her edited inventory of framed photography. Through these chance encounters Rice found inspiration to create this exhibition unlike anything seen before at the gallery and curated an immersive experience. Maintaining her expert aesthetic, Rice has brought together a mosaic of mediums that seamlessly fit together like pieces of a puzzle. Kinney's collection of ink wash paintings in Japanese Sumi ink and watercolor paintings on hand-torn paper render fleeting glimpses of figures and animals as well as primal symbols. Tasmania Spiral is a hypnotic work that resembles a gyre. Also in focus is Hauser’s collection of abstract paintings featuring an alluring vintage color palette...Category

- Saucer Over Northern Plains, limited edition, signed, archival pigment inkBy Mitch DobrownerLocated in Sante Fe, NMSaucer Over Northern Plains, limited edition, signed, archival pigment ink The adrenaline of seeing Mother Nature during some of her finest moments will be ingrained in me forever. It is a humbling experience - and I feel fortunate to have witnessed her power and grandeur over the past 12 years. My experiences are hard to describe in words During this last trip (July 2021) we traveled over 6400 miles in 10 days crossing through 10 different states - all in my quest/passion to photograph these storm systems. But this time the events of the last year made me more aware, opened my eyes wider, and had a different effect on me. The effects of Climate Change have become obvious. The current patterns are changing and they are accelerating faster than anyone realized or predicted. Just over the past decade, the characteristics of the Jet Stream and the Gulf Stream have changed. Pandemics, droughts, devastating heatwaves, wildfires, massive floods, and rising oceans are accelerating. As I sit here in my house in Lone Pine, CA in 103-degree heat I can hardly see the outlines of Lone Pine Peak and Mount Whitney...Category
