Barry Kramer
Sammy Davis Trio (Limited Edition of 25, No 20-25) - Iconic Celebrity Prints

1972

About the Item

Shot by Barry Kramer (1921- 1984), one of the most prolific photographers of his time. Here Kramer captures legend performer, Sammy Davis Jr. preforming on stage at the Westbury Theater, LI, NY. As Davis moved around the stage, Kramer continued to shot. After developing the film, he cut diagonally, three negatives, taped them together and produced this stunning stitched image of this great entertainer. He was born and raised in New York City and graduated from New York University as advertising major. Like many before him, his photography was not well-known during his life but celebrated after death. This image and others were discovered 33 years after his death. Kramer traveled with USO shows for enlisted men during WWII around Europe, photographing and developing close relationships with many stars that included Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Duke Ellington and Jack Benny. They expanded his relationships to include Perry Como, Steve Allen, Wayne Newton, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Don Rickles, Count Basie, Joan Rivers, Buddy Hackett, Stan Kenton, Ella Fitzgerald, Joey Bishop and countless other celebrities of the time. He was also the in-house photographer at the famous Westbury Theater, Long Island, New York, where many of the aforementioned stars preformed. Until now Kramer’s photographs have never been published in a limited-edition format. Each image captures the essence of a time gone by in American culture and entertainment and the stars who really shined. A numbered Certificate of Authenticity, issued by the Barry Kramer Estate accompanies the print. 20 x 24 Limited Edition of 25 (#20 to #25) 30 x 40 Limited Edition of 10 (#5 to #10) 40 x 50 Limited Edition of 5 (#3 to #5) Music, Contemporary Art, Hip-Hop, 1970s New York Artists, Popular Culture, Legend Musician, Fine Art Prints.
