Wonderful double sided oil on heavy fiber board paintings done by the well known North Fork Peconic Bay artist Caroline Bell. The coastal sailing painting is signed lower left. The haystack painting verso is signed in pencil lower right. The sailing painting is in good condition; the haystack painting is in good condition. Both done circa 1930. In a period but not original gold leaf over wood frame. Framed measurements are 19 by 23.75 inches. Provenance: A Long Island, New York estate. The painting is housed in its original ornate gold leaf frame. Overall framed measurements are 23.25 by 19.25 inches. Claude Cahill Cooper (b. 1941) An Impressionist painter, he uses the pointillist method in many of his paintings. . Claude Cahill Cooper was born in London, England to parents who were both doctors. Recognizing his talents in drawing at an early age, his parents enrolled him at the Coventry Art School while he was still attending primary school. In later years he attended the London Art Institute and had his first show a few years later. His works are exhibited in London, Paris, and New York and his typical signature is C.C. Cooper. Flatiron Building, originally Fuller Building, steel-framed skyscraper in New York City that was completed in 1902. It is one of the city’s oldest surviving skyscrapers. The Flatiron Building on Fifth Avenue is significant not only in its unusual appearance but also as one of the key buildings in the Beaux-Arts Classicist movement. Its architect, New York–born Daniel Burnham, is better known for his work and plans in Chicago than in his city of birth. In 1873 he formed a partnership with John Wellborn Root that was significant in creating a group of architects and engineers called the Chicago School. Board size: 13"H x 19"W Richard "Don" Klopfer (1920-2009) attended the National Art School in Washington D.C. and the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California. Klopfer was a life-long, passionate visual artist who worked in a variety of mediums, including oil paints, wood and bronze. His gallery "The Flair" was on Pico Blvd West Los Angeles from 1954 to 1980 was a gathering place for artists, friends and collectors. He was recognized for the use of brilliant color in his paintings and for leaving drawings everywhere he went. Klopfer's painting "My Old House" is on permanent exhibition at San Luis Obispo Museum of Art (SLOMA).
