About the Item

The series "Spirituality" has reached completion. However, O. Khrapachov's search did not reach a dead end. His theory of the development of the world testifies to the incompleteness of the cycle, and therefore the endless path of knowledge. Therefore, the continuation of the previous line, its new development is the cycle of paintings "Reflections of the Subconscious", where the artist moves from images to ideas. On this path, realism no longer satisfies him, so the artist turns to surrealism. In the flow of surrealism, the end result is always unknown. Space and time lose their significance. The idea of a path, the main characteristic of which is the direction, and not the destination, is being actively developed.

  • Beech Tree at Hopetoun House, Vivid Landscape Oil Painting, Signed & dated 1932

Oil on canvas, signed lower right Dated '1932' and inscribed on reverse Image size: 28 x 22 inches (71 x 56 cm) This vivid painting depicts a beech tree at Hopetoun House on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Hopetoun House is a remarkable stately home that has been home to the Hope family since the late 1600s - it is filled with stunning collections and sits in majestic grounds. However, the colour pallet, low view point and stylised forms in this painting have transformed this picturesque pastoral scene into something psychedelic, other-worldly and uncanny.
