Giuseppe Fraschetti
Florentine Artist Religious Figurative drawing 20th century ink pencil paper

early 20th

About the Item

The drawing is signed on the bottom left G. Fraschetti, a Florentine artist, pupil of Giacomo Lolli, active mostly in Tuscany in the time between the 19th and 20th century and known for his unique figurative style, influenced just by his point of view. The two faces sheet (ink and pencil on paper, 32.5 x 23.3 cm) represents two religious episodes. On the front, a scene from the Gospels (The Deposition from the Cross). On the back, a scene from the Bible (The Expulsion from the Garden of Eden). They can be studies from real based on a existing cycle of frescoes or paintings or they can be an interpretation of the artist (who dedicated a conspicuous part of his artistic career to religious composition) on the subject.
