About the Item
Antique Victorian silver photo locket with a typical for Aesthetic movement design. The front of this beautiful piece depicts a pair of swallow birds, one in a flight and another one sitting on the branch. The swallow was very popular in the Victorian era and the jewellery with this bird motif was often given to loved ones when they set out on a journey to keep them safe. The swallow is also a symbol of love and devotion.
This is a typical aesthetic movement motif, and this locket is a lovely example of its period. This exquisite locket has delicate engraved detail, and it presents beautifully when worn. It opens to reveal two picture compartments.
