GRS Certified 12.68 Carat Blue Sapphire Untreated Loose Gem
About the Item
A Burmese blue sapphire of 12 carat size is a rare and stunning gemstone that has a deep and vivid blue color. It is a type of corundum, which is a mineral that contains aluminum oxide and other trace elements. The blue color of sapphire is caused by the presence of iron and titanium in the crystal structure. Sapphires are very hard and durable, with a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale. They have a vitreous to adamantine luster and a hexagonal crystal shape.
Burmese blue sapphires are found mainly in the Mogok Stone Tract in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. This region has been producing sapphires and rubies for over a thousand years, and is famous for its high-quality and beautiful gems. Burmese blue sapphires have a distinctive hue that is often called “royal” or “midnight” blue. They are highly valued and sought after by collectors and jewelers, as they have a unique and elegant appearance.
A Burmese blue sapphire of 12 carat size is quite large and impressive, as most sapphires weigh less than 5 carats

- GRS SWISS LAB Certified 2.89 Carat RUBY (BURMA) Un heatLocated in Taipei, TWBurma ruby, or Burmese ruby, is the finest sort of gem-quality rubies that you can find anywhere in the world1 . They contain the purest shade of red, otherwise known as “pigeon blood” or “blood-red”1 . Burma ruby came from the Mogok Valley in Upper Myanmar, where there’s a mine that produced 90% of the rubies in the world1. The Mogok Valley is also commonly known as “the Valley of Rubies”1. The history of Burma ruby can be directly tied to the political history of Myanmar. Until the 19th century, only the Burmese people had access to these opulent mines. When Britain annexed Upper Burma at the end of the 19th century, the British were also able to take control of the ruby mines1. Due to recent political issues, Burma ruby trade was not allowed in the United States until 20161. The Burmese mines have been depleted, as gemological experts believe that the majority of ruby deposits are all mined out1. Since the 1990s, the Mong Hsu area in central Myanmar has been the new primary source of rubies1. However, these rubies are not as fine as the old Burma rubies...Category
