About the Item

A classic pair of earrings with Emeralds and diamonds. Very beautiful pair of earrings, crafted with classical patterns in solid white gold of 18 karats and accents of yellow gold in the center for the settings of the emeralds. They are extremely well made as a cluster and with superb eye appeal. Embellished with a great selection of twenty-four natural earth mined gemstones, such; white colorless diamonds and a pair of exceptional Colombian vivid green emeralds. The earrings are fitted at the reverse with posts for pierced ears and comfortable omega backs for fastening clips. Diamonds: Mount in three-prongs settings, with 24 calibrated marquise brilliant cut diamonds, with a combined weight of 4.74 carats, white colorless F/G color, VS-2 clarity. Emeralds: Mount in double four-prongs settings, with 2 matching square cornered cut (7 x 7 x 4.55 mm) of natural Colombian vivid green emeralds with a total weight of 3.04 carats. Note: This pair of emeralds are exceptional and were mined at the region of the Muzo-Coscuez mine in Colombia. They are perfectly matched, with even green color saturations, with no open windows, great crystal transparency and with substantial size. Birthstone: Emeralds for the month of May. Weight: 10.5 Grams, (4.10 Dwt). Measurements: 26 mm by 17 mm (1.02 x 0.67 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the mark for the assay of the gold, " .750". Colombian Emeralds The Muzo-Coscuez emerald district, is a town and municipality in western Boyacá province, in Colombia. Contains several mines, although the Muzo mine is undoubtedly the best known, the Coscuez mine is rapidly gaining significance as a major source of fine emeralds. Yet few in the trade outside of Colombia are aware of the importance of Coscuez or know about the emeralds mined there. The Coscuez mine is literally hundreds of years old, and its history is closely tied to that of Muzo. Located only about 10 km apart, the two areas also share many geologic features and both are currently exploited using open-cut mining methods. The Coscuez emeralds are similar to Muzo stones in their physical properties, but they occur in a somewhat broader range of hue and saturation.
