The sweetest little antique Georgian era padlock mourning brooch or pin. Georgian padlock jewels are increasingly difficult to find and a highly popular choice in mourning jewellery. They embody the sentiment of keeping one close to the heart, love that is locked into the soul, they are one of the most recognised symbols of love and romance and it was this connection with love that meant they were often used in mourning jewellery. This gorgeous little mourning brooch is crafted in 9kt Rose gold, the front has a glazed central panel, enclosing a lock of plaited brown hair. Unmarked, tests as 9kt gold, late Georgian era c1800s. Condition: Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, some tiny dings, some debris visible under the glazing.
