About the Item
Original vintage poster advertising the Birth Centenary Commemoration of Lafcadio Hearn / Yakumo Koizumi held in Matsue City on 27 June 1950 featuring a colourful painting of the historic Matsue Castle and lake with the text on the dark background above and below. The Greek Irish writer, translator and teacher Patrick Lafcadio Hearn 小泉 八雲 Yakumo Koizumi (1850-1904) lived in Japan from 1890 and was instrumental in introducing Japanese culture and literature to the West; the Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum opened in 1933. Good condition, restored folds, error on first letter of title appears to have been corrected in top left corner, backed on linen.
