Large Antique Oil on Canvas Painting "Celebration", Men Drinking Wine & Smoking

Large size and one of a kind painting with a great atmosphere.
We are by no means connoisseurs when it comes to antique paintings, but we have seen enough antique paintings to know when something is special, decorative and truly joyful and interesting to look at. And the large size of this antique work of art, makes it impressive too. Also, because it must have taken one skilled painter an awful lot of time (probably weeks, if not months) to hand-paint this joyous scene of educated friends celebrating. We have named this painting 'celebration', but we are certain you yourself could come up with other appropriate titles as well. We were able to purchase this unique painting at an estate sale in the city of Berlin, but we are not sure if this is a German painting or not. We are unable to 'decipher' the signature and when looking at the well dressed gentlemen in this painting, we believe, some of them could also be English. What we do know, is that some 20 to 40 years ago this painting was entirely glued onto a new canvas, which is why we added images 13 and 14. Here you can see that the antique canvas is on top of a much earlier canvas, but they did use the antique, hand-forged nails to keep it as original as possible. Judging from what we see in this painting, this could be a scene of friends drinking in a tavern, but this could also be a group of businessman enjoying drinks in a (or their) cider distillery. What we like best are the truly happy and smiling faces in this friendly gathering. And the way the candlelight on the table is 'distributed' through the space, makes the entire scene very intimate and atmosperic. Apart from some minor imperfections this large and nostalgic painting is in very good condition and we believe it will look particularly great in a wine bar, in a grand cafe or in any other room or establishment where this type of relaxation is enjoyed.
We don't know the 'exact' value of this large size and antique painting, but because of its uniqueness, its age, its subject matter, its decorative value and its condition, we are certain it is great value for money at our price. Especially when taking into account that perfect packing (in a custom made crate) and worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days are complimentary.

Many of the details are incredibly well painted, but we particularly love the way the stunning camel is portrayed, but also the clothes of the people and the serene face of the small child are marvelous details to look at. Unfortunately we don't know who painted this work of beauty, but we would not be surprised if there are connoisseurs out there that do. One of the most difficult things in interior design, we feel, is decorating the walls. We are no specialist in selling antique paintings, but whenever we get a chance to purchase a beautiful hand-painted oil on canvas from the Victorian era then we always try to acquire it. Especially when the details and colors are as good and vibrant as in this 19th century painting. The fact that there is some type of 'action' going on too lifts it above the average. This Arab subject matter also is very rare and besides the folds in the painting (where the inner edges of the frame underneith are), this antique work of art truly is in superb condition and a gem to behold. To us, this is the perfect painting for an eclectic interior or for anyone with an Arab or Moroccan Style (inspired) interior.
