About the Item
If you want something special, we recommend purchasing items selected by BROOD.
We sell carefully selected old Japanese items.
I've seen tens of thousands of items so far.
Based on that experience, only selected items are posted here.
We are able to do this because of our long experience.
There may be items on the 1stdibs site that look and feel the same, but the items selected by BROOD are unique.
This old Japanese folding screen was created in 1947 (Showa 49).
On its wooden panels are ink paintings quietly spread out by the foreign artist 雨路風.
The name 雨路風 adds a touch of colour, and the work, painted from a foreigner's unique perspective, beautifully expresses the beauty of the Japanese” Wabi sabi”.
It can be hung on the wall of a room and its presence is like magic that instantly changes the atmosphere. It has an outstanding impact and breathes new life into a room.
Some age-related staining can be seen, but this enhances the style of the work. It is in unusually good condition for a folding screen of this period and its beauty is timeless.
It can be folded and measures W100 x D8.5 x 193 (cm) when folded. It is easy to store and conveniently designed to enhance its beauty at any time.
This is difficult to obtain even in Japan.
Highly recommended!
There are few stores that sell such things in 1stdibs.
We sell with confidence.
Also, I want many people to know the goodness of antiques, so I set the price reasonably.

- Japanese Antique Candle Stick 1800s-1860s / Mingei Object WabisabiLocated in Sammu-shi, ChibaSince ancient times, people have created necessary tools from familiar materials, passed them on, and nurtured a lifestyle culture in order to survive in the severe struggle against nature. Over a long period of time, the tools accumulate a certain flavor and reflect the way of life. The harsher the natural environment and the weaker the human being, the stronger the power of the tool. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly modifying and re-creating the things around us opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we carefully select and collect beautiful, powerful, and unique Japanese antiques. This is a very old candlestick...Category

- Japanese Two Panel Screen Chrysanthemums Through the Mist Obara Art ScreenLocated in Hudson, NYJapanese two panel screen: Chrysanthemums Through the Mist Obara Paper Art Screen. Surreal and masterful rendering of chrysanthemums cloaked in mist that varies in opacity made entirely of carefully arranged mulberry paper fibers in a Japanese art practice called Obara. Accented with gold leaf. Unique in terms of both execution and dreamlike mood. Made by Yamauchi Issei (b. 1929), stamped in the corner. Issei started exhibiting in the Nitten in 1953, won the gold medal in 1963, and eventually became a juror.
