Abstract Midcentury Oil Painting on Board Industrial Scene by F. David Taggart
About the Item
A striking 1960s abstract painting, possibly of a Northern England Industrial street scene. Oil on board signed FD Taggart (British born 1937), with indistinctive title to the back.
The bold use of colour and the striking palette knife work shows the artist's confidence, featuring a very textured surface, with several areas of impasto where the artist has worked the surface with thick, blended colours in oil.
The painting has an 8cm deep wooden frame, in a cream and burnt orange paint with great patina, which compliments the oils beautifully.
Other works produced by Taggart F.David include ‘Piccadilly at Night’, ‘The Woodland POOL’, ‘Crucifixion’, ‘Landscape’, ‘Queuing for an art gallery’ and ‘Shipyard’.
